TCI B6529, BTP3-Neu5Ac sodium salt, is a fluorogenic substrate for detecting sialidase (neuraminidase) activity. Enzymatic cleavage of the sialic acid unit releases a fluorescent benzothiazolylphenol reporter that tends to deposit at the site of the reaction, giving sharply localised signals under a fluorescence microscope. This makes it especially suitable for histochemical imaging, cell-based assays, influenza neuraminidase studies and sialidase inhibitor screening.
