Description
TCI B6831 Biotin-C5-Amine (CAS 115416-38-1) is a biotin derivative bearing a five-carbon spacer terminating in a primary amine. The free amine reacts readily with NHS esters, isothiocyanates, epoxides, and activated carboxylic acids, enabling straightforward biotinylation of proteins, oligonucleotides, polymers, and solid surfaces. The C5 spacer reduces steric hindrance so that the biotin moiety remains accessible to streptavidin and avidin during detection, immobilisation, or affinity purification. Supplied in 25 mg and 100 mg packs, the solid should be stored cold and dry, equilibrated to room temperature before opening, and dissolved fresh where possible.
