TCI C0253 4-Chloro-DL-phenylalanine is a non-natural aromatic amino acid supplied as the racemic DL mixture, structurally an analogue of phenylalanine bearing a para-chloro substituent. It is well known in neurochemical research as an inhibitor of tryptophan hydroxylase and is therefore used in studies of the serotonin pathway. The free amino and carboxyl groups also allow it to be incorporated as a modified residue in peptide synthesis.
