Activated Carbon Micron Powder, Size 4000 µm, is a gas-phase adsorbent treated with potassium hydroxide (KOH) to strengthen its reactive chemisorption. Despite the product name, the material comes as cylindrical pellets with a nominal size of 4000 µm (4 mm) and an apparent density of 0.48 g/cm³, combining a well-developed internal pore network with high mechanical hardness.
The alkaline modification adds reactive sites that help capture acidic gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S), with a specified H2S adsorption capacity of 140–145 mg H2S/cc carbon and a removal efficiency of 99.5%. Its iodine index of 1,000 mg/g and carbon tetrachloride activity above 63% point to a substantial microporous structure. Real-world removal depends on moisture, oxygen availability, temperature, gas composition and contact time, so breakthrough testing under actual conditions is recommended.
The adsorbent is designed for operation up to 60 °C, offers good thermal stability and ash content below 10%, and is intended for gas streams rather than adsorption of dissolved contaminants in water.
- Removing hydrogen sulfide from biogas and natural gas to help protect equipment from corrosion.
- Controlling odors, mercaptans and acidic gases in sewage networks, pumping stations and wastewater treatment plants.
- Eliminating hazardous gaseous emissions in air scrubbing towers and exhaust systems of chemical plants, pulp and paper mills and refineries.
- Capturing sulfur-containing compounds from process gas streams in petrochemical desulfurization.
- Trapping VOCs and corrosive acid gases in commercial air handling units and industrial cleanrooms.

Keep in a tightly sealed container under the conditions given in the Safety Data Sheet, away from incompatible substances and contamination. Spent carbon may hold hazardous adsorbed compounds, including sulfur species, so use suitable ventilation, protective equipment and waste-handling procedures, and base replacement on breakthrough monitoring rather than a fixed service life.
