Amino-Multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes from Nanografi are MWCNTs whose surfaces carry amine (-NH2) groups. Each tube is built from several single-walled carbon nanotubes nested inside one another. The material is produced by CVD, has a purity above 95 wt%, an outside diameter of 8.0-15.0 nm and a length of 50 μm.
The amine groups help the tubes disperse more readily, make the surface more reactive and strengthen bonding to surrounding matrices. The nanotubes also keep the high electrical conductivity, mechanical strength and thermal stability typical of MWCNTs. This combination suits them to polymer and epoxy composites, sensor electrodes, adsorbents and electrode materials for energy devices.
The amine content is 0.45 wt%, the specific surface area is above 233 m2/g and the ash content is 1.5% max. The product is a black material and comes in 1 g and 5 g packs.
- Gene and drug delivery systems, cancer theranostics and bio-imaging agents that use the amine groups for conjugation.
- Reinforcement of epoxy and polymer matrices through covalent bonding, improving mechanical strength and thermal resistance.
- Biosensors and chemical sensors in which enzymes, DNA or proteins are immobilized to detect glucose, pathogens, gases or heavy metal ions.
- Adsorbents and filtration membranes that bind heavy metals and organic pollutants in water purification.
- Electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cell electrocatalysts.
