This antimony telluride (Sb2Te3) sputtering target is a high-purity source for depositing thin films by sputtering. It is supplied at 99.999% purity as a 4'' disc with a thickness of 0.250'', suitable for research work and for scaling up to production batches on medium to large substrate areas.
Sb2Te3 is an inorganic grey crystalline solid with a layered structure: each layer combines two atomic sheets of antimony with three of tellurium, and the layers are bound by weak van der Waals forces. Owing to its good electrical conductivity, it is an established thermoelectric material for the 200 K to 400 K temperature range.
Sputter deposition is a repeatable process with many adjustable parameters, giving experienced users considerable control over film growth and microstructure. Films from this target are relevant to thermoelectric devices such as power generators, coolers and thermal sensors, and can also be applied to flexible materials.
- Thin-film deposition of Sb2Te3 onto substrates such as silicon wafers.
- Fabrication of thermoelectric layers for power generators, coolers and thermal sensors or detectors.
- Coating of flexible materials with antimony telluride films.
- Sputter etching where high etching anisotropy is required.
