Bismuth (Bi) sputtering targets are solid, dense plates of bismuth, a heavy post-transition metal, prepared for use in physical vapor deposition (PVD) systems. During sputtering, energetic ions erode the target surface and deposit bismuth atoms onto a substrate, forming thin films for research and development. They belong to the class of metallic sputtering materials used in thin film technology.
