This coin style single wafer shipper is a cylindrical container made to transport and store one 2'' (51 mm) wafer. It is intended mainly for thin silicon wafers, yet it works just as well for glass, quartz, sapphire, GaAs and other thin round wafers of this size.
The shipper has three parts: a base, a spider spring and a locking cap. Because the base is concave inside, the wafer is touched only at its edges, and once the screw-on cap is locked, the eight-point spring cushion keeps the wafer held facedown. The positive closure secures the contents, the design absorbs impact, and the units can be stacked.
The body is made from natural translucent polypropylene (PP), a milky white, insulating material with a low dielectric constant and water absorption below 0.01%. It tolerates IPA and acetone, and its continuous use temperature limit is 55 C. The shipper suits both manual and automated loading and unloading.
