These short length multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) carry carboxyl (-COOH) groups on their surface, with a -COOH content of 0.73 wt%. The black powder has a purity above 98%, an outside diameter of 30-50 nm and tube lengths of 0.5-2 µm.
With a specific surface area greater than 80 m2/g, the material offers plenty of reactive sites. The carboxyl groups help the nanotubes disperse and bond within polymer matrices, and they serve as anchoring points for metal nanoparticles and enzymes.
Researchers use this functionalized MWCNT in nanocomposites, battery and supercapacitor electrodes, electrocatalysis, chemical and biosensors, biomedical studies and pollutant adsorption.
- Reinforcing polymer nanocomposites with better dispersion, interfacial bonding, mechanical strength, thermal stability and conductivity.
- Improving charge transfer, electrode stability and cycle life in lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells.
- Anchoring metal nanoparticles and enzymes for hydrogen evolution, oxygen reduction and nanobiocatalysis.
- Raising sensitivity and selectivity of chemical sensors and biosensors.
- Research on drug delivery, bioimaging and tissue engineering scaffolds.
- Adsorbing heavy metals and organic pollutants in environmental remediation.
