These short-length multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) carry carboxyl (-COOH) groups on their surface, at a content of 0.49 wt%. The black powder has a purity above 98%, an outside diameter of 30-80 nm, a tube length of 0.5-2 µm and a specific surface area greater than 70 m2/g.
The carboxyl groups make the nanotubes easier to disperse and help them bond with surrounding polymer matrices, which supports gains in strength, thermal stability and conductivity in composites. The same groups also serve as attachment points for metal nanoparticles and enzymes, making the material useful in catalyst and sensor development.
Thanks to their short length, these -COOH MWCNTs show improved biocompatibility, which opens up biomedical research uses. They are offered in 1 g, 5 g, 25 g, 100 g and 500 g packs.
