Iron oxide (Fe3O4), commonly known as magnetite, is an inorganic ceramic oxide with a mixed-valence iron structure and notable magnetic behavior. Sputtering targets are solid, dense plates or discs used as source material in physical vapor deposition (PVD), where atoms are ejected from the target and deposited onto a substrate to form thin films. Iron oxide targets belong to the metal oxide ceramic target family used in functional thin-film research.
