Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) is a layered lithium transition metal oxide, best known as a cathode material in lithium-ion batteries. Sputtering targets are solid, compacted pieces of this material used as the source in physical vapor deposition (PVD), where atoms are ejected and deposited onto a substrate to form thin films.
