Magnesium Hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) Nanopowder/Nanoparticles

Magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) nanopowder from Nanografi is a white nanoscale powder with a purity of 99.9% and a particle size of 100 nm. Iron and copper are each specified at 0.003% in the elemental analysis. It is offered in 5 grams, 25 grams, 100 grams, 500 grams and 1000 grams packs.

Its best-known role is as a halogen-free flame retardant. When heated, the material decomposes endothermically and gives off water vapour, which cools the surface, slows ignition and dilutes flammable gases, while also limiting the oxygen available to the fire and reducing smoke and toxic gas formation.

Because of its high surface area and nanoscale dispersion, the powder works at lower loadings in polymers such as PP, PE, PVC and EVA, helping thermal stability, mechanical strength and fire resistance without sacrificing the base material's properties. As a mild, non-toxic alkali it is also used for pH adjustment, heavy-metal precipitation and pollutant control, and it finds use in pharmaceutical formulations and protective coatings.
