Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a layered transition metal dichalcogenide in which a molybdenum layer is sandwiched between two sulfur layers. Supplied as a micron-sized powder, it belongs to the family of inorganic lamellar materials. Its weak interlayer bonding gives it solid-lubricant and catalytic behavior that is widely studied in research.
