Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a layered transition metal dichalcogenide, in which molybdenum atoms are sandwiched between sulfur layers and the layers are held together by weak interlayer forces. Sputtering targets are solid pieces of this material used in physical vapor deposition (PVD) to deposit MoS2 thin films onto substrates for research and development.
