Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) arrays on polycrystalline silicon are carbon nanomaterial substrates in which concentric graphitic tubes grow upright in an aligned, forest-like structure on a silicon base. As members of the carbon nanotube family, these vertically aligned architectures offer a large accessible surface area and directional electrical and thermal pathways, which are difficult to achieve with randomly oriented nanotube powders.
