Nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) sputtering targets are solid metallic plates made from a nickel and chromium alloy. In physical vapor deposition, energetic ions bombard the target surface and eject atoms that condense onto a substrate, forming a thin film. Ni-Cr alloys are a well-known class of engineering alloys, valued for their oxidation resistance and their stable resistive behavior in thin-film form.
