Nitinol is a nickel-titanium shape memory alloy (SMA) supplied in wire form, classified as a functional metallic material. After being deformed at a lower temperature, it can return to its pre-programmed shape when heated above its transformation temperature. This wire is specified with an austenite finish (AF) temperature of 35-40°C. Nitinol also shows superelastic behaviour, allowing large reversible strains without permanent deformation.
