These multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) carry hydroxyl (-OH) groups on their surface, with an -OH content of 0.75 wt%. The black powder has a purity above 96 % and is produced by chemical vapour deposition (CVD).
Each tube has an outside diameter of 48-78 nm, an inside diameter of 5-15 nm and a length of 10-25 µm. The material offers a specific surface area above 50 m2/g, a tap density of 0.2 g/cm3, a true density of 2.4 g/cm3 and an electrical conductivity of 98 S/cm, with ash at 1.5 wt%.
Hydroxyl-functionalized MWCNTs are of interest across medicine, mechanics, electronics, chemistry and energy research, from composite reinforcement to electrode materials for energy storage.
