These short length double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) carry hydroxyl (-OH) groups on their surface and are made by chemical vapour deposition (CVD). The material is a black powder with purity above 65 %, an -OH content of 3.0%, an outer diameter of 2-4 nm, an inner diameter of 1-3 nm and tube lengths of 0.5-2.5 µm.
The hydroxyl groups make the nanotubes easier to disperse and more chemically reactive, which helps when blending them into matrices or attaching further chemistry. A specific surface area of 370 m2/g and an electrical conductivity of 98 S/cm make them useful wherever conductive, high-surface-area carbon is needed.
Researchers use this grade in energy storage, electronics, composite reinforcement, catalysis and biomedical studies. It is offered in pack sizes from 5 grams up to 1000 grams.
- Conductive additive in lithium batteries and supercapacitors to improve charge transport and cycle stability.
- Reinforcement of polymer, ceramic and metal matrices to raise strength, toughness and conductivity.
- Components for transistors, flat-panel displays and gas-discharge tubes.
- Catalyst supports for chemical and electrochemical reactions.
- Research on drug delivery systems and biosensors.
- Conductive scaffolds and charge transport layers in solar cells and studies on hydrogen storage.
