1,1':4',1'':4'',1'''-Quarterphenyl-3,3''',5,5'''-tetracarboxylic acid, known as H4QPTC (CAS 921619-91-2), is a rigid, linear organic linker used to construct metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Its quarterphenyl backbone carries a pair of carboxylic acid groups at the 3- and 5-positions of each terminal benzene ring. It is supplied as an off-white powder or crystal with a purity above 98%.
Frameworks built from this ligand have been explored for several functions. A zinc MOF based on H4QPTC forms an unusual 4,8-connected 3D structure that took up about 22.5 wt.% of the anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil per gram of dehydrated material, then released it gradually, with 92% delivered over 120 h.
An anionic indium(III) framework containing piperazinium dications in its pores shows kinetic trapping of hydrogen and hysteretic hydrogen adsorption. In a europium framework hosting a luminescent perylene dye, the luminescence intensity ratio changes strongly with temperature across the physiological range, reaching a maximum sensitivity of 1.28% °C−1 at 20 °C, making it suitable for ratiometric thermometry.
- Synthesis of metal-organic frameworks using a rigid linear tetracarboxylate linker.
- Zinc-based MOF carriers for loading and controlled release of 5-fluorouracil in drug delivery research.
- Indium(III) anionic frameworks for studying kinetic trapping and hysteretic hydrogen adsorption.
- Europium MOF and dye composites for ratiometric luminescent temperature sensing.
- Research on dual-emitting MOF fluorescent sensors and luminescent materials for anticounterfeiting.
