These stainless steel shims fit the Ossila 100 mm standard slot die head and are used to set the width of the coated film. A slot die head needs a shim fitted to define how wide the deposited coating will be, so choosing a shim is a basic step in configuring a slot die coating run.
Shims are supplied in packs of 5 and come with predefined coating widths, in thicknesses of 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm. Beyond setting width, a shim can also act as a spacer between the sections of the head, changing the internal pressure to support higher flow rates. They suit inks and solutions across a viscosity range of 0 – 1000 cPs.
Custom shim options are also available for more specific needs, including designs that allow multi-strip coatings.
- Defining the coating width of films deposited with an Ossila 100 mm slot die head.
- Spacing apart the sections of the slot die head to alter internal pressure for higher flow rates.
- Adjusting coating width and volume for solutions in the 0 – 1000 cPs viscosity range.
- Producing multi-strip coatings using custom shim designs.
