2,2-Bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane (BAPP), CAS 13080-86-9, is a phenyl ether diamine building block with a diphenoxy-phenyl core. It is supplied at >99% purity as a white to off-white powder, mainly for use as a monomer in polyimide synthesis.
Amine groups at both ends of the molecule allow straightforward coupling with carboxylic acid or carboxylic dianhydride building blocks to form crosslinked polyimides. These polymers offer low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss, which suits them to high frequency (10 GHz) 5G communication substrates. Their low methanol permeability makes them useful as membranes in direct methanol fuel cells, and they also show excellent cryogenic mechanical properties and fire resistance.
BAPP can also be condensed with dialdehyde building blocks to give polyimines that emit blue photoluminescence for OLED research, and it serves as a phenoxyphenyl ligand for cross-linked COF and MOF networks.
- Monomer for polyimide synthesis with carboxylic dianhydrides or carboxylic acids.
- Low dielectric polyimide substrates for high frequency (10 GHz) 5G communication.
- Polyimide membranes for direct methanol fuel cells.
- Polyimide materials for battery applications such as separators.
- Blue-emitting polyimines for OLED applications.
- Ligand for cross-linked COF and MOF networks.
