2,4,6-Tris(4-hydrazinylphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine (CAS 804548-56-9) is a triangular hydrazine linker used to build covalent organic frameworks (COFs). Its central triazine ring carries three hydrazinophenyl arms, giving three reactive sites that condense with ketone or aldehyde building blocks to form densely cross-linked networks. Supplied as a pale orange powder with a purity of ≥ 97%.
Frameworks made from this ligand are joined through hydrazone bonds and adopt a coplanar structure. Because the interactions between their layers are relatively weak, these COFs can be exfoliated into 2D polymer sheets.
When combined with 4,4',4''-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tribenzaldehyde, it gives a COF with a pore volume of 0.434 cm3/g and a surface area of 458 m2/g. This material takes up methyl orange strongly, as the hydrazone linkers form hydrogen bonds with the dye's azo groups. Such COFs are studied for dye absorption and photocatalytic reactions.
- Synthesis of hydrazone-linked covalent organic frameworks through reaction with aldehyde or ketone derivatives.
- Preparation of COFs for absorbing dyes such as methyl orange.
- Development of COF materials for photocatalytic reactions.
- Production of exfoliated 2D polymer sheets from layered COFs.
