2,5-Bis(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)terephthalaldehyde (CAS 2305615-53-4) is a benzenedicarbaldehyde building block for covalent organic frameworks (COFs), porous materials and semiconducting polymers. Its benzene core carries two aldehyde groups and two pinacolborane (Bpin) groups, each pair arranged in para-positions.
This dual functionality lets the compound act as a monomer in both Suzuki cross-coupling and amination reactions without the two kinds of functional group interfering with one another. As a result, COFs built from it remain well suited to post-functionalization once the polymer network has been formed.
The ligand is also used to prepare poly(phenylenevinylene) for 2D semiconducting materials by aldol condensation. Ossila supplies it as an orange to brown powder with a purity of >98%.
