2',5'-Dimethoxy[1,1':4',1''-terphenyl]-4,4''-dicarboxylic acid, also known as H2TPDC-OMe (CAS 1392416-19-1), is a linear terphenyl linker used to construct metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Its rigid backbone of three linearly joined phenyl rings carries flexible methoxy side groups, allowing a range of coordination modes and varied framework architectures when combined with inorganic metal cluster nodes.
Frameworks built from this ligand are of interest for carbon dioxide storage and for separating CO2 from CH4. For example, the porous cadmium MOF [Cd(L)(OBA)]·DMF·H2O, with L as H2TPDC-OMe, adsorbs CO2 at 26.75 cm3/g at 295 K, and its open metal sites interact differently with the two gases, supporting selective CO2/CH4 separation. The conjugated terphenyl core also gives the molecule photoluminescent behaviour.
Ossila supplies this compound (product code B3131) at >98% purity as a white powder/crystal, with a molecular weight of 378.37 g/mol, in 500 mg, 1 g and 5 g pack sizes.
