2-Amino-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, also known as H2BPDC-NH2 (CAS 1240557-01-0), is a rigid organic linker used to construct metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Its biphenyl core carries carboxylic acid groups at the 4 and 4' positions, with an amino group at the 2-position that adds a functional handle to the framework.
This ligand has been combined with 4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylic acid in varying ratios to produce mixed-linker zirconium MOFs of the UiO-67 type. With palladium centres anchored to the framework as pendant sites, these materials catalysed Suzuki and Heck cross-coupling reactions efficiently at a Pd loading of only 0.054 mol %. The porous catalyst could be recovered and reused for at least 10 cycles without significant leaching or drop in activity.
Supplied by Ossila as a pale yellow powder or crystal with a purity of >98%, the compound has a molecular weight of 257.24 g/mol.
