2-TNATA, or 4,4',4''-Tris[2-naphthyl(phenyl)amino]triphenylamine (CAS 185690-41-9), is a starburst-type triphenylamine derivative used as a hole-injection and hole-transport material in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). It is supplied as a pale yellow to yellow powder or crystals in two grades: sublimed with >99.0% purity and unsublimed with >98.0% purity.
The molecule forms highly uniform thin films, and its low ionization potential of around 5.1 eV (HOMO 5.1 eV, LUMO 2.2 eV) makes it well suited to hole-injection layers. When combined with tungsten oxide (WO3) as a p-doped transport layer in Alq3-based p-i-n OLEDs, it has been reported to improve hole injection and conductivity, giving long device lifetime, a low driving voltage of 3.1 V and a power efficiency of 3.5 lm/W at 100 cd/m2.
Published device structures using 2-TNATA cover green, deep blue, red and white OLEDs, including a green phosphorescent device reaching 62.6 cd/A current efficiency at 20 mA/cm2.
