2CzPN (1,2-Bis(carbazol-9-yl)-4,5-dicyanobenzene, CAS 1416881-50-9) is a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) material that emits in the sky blue region. Ossila supplies it in sublimed grade with purity above 99% (HPLC), as pale yellow crystals or powder, for organic electronics research.
The molecule pairs two electron-donating carbazolyl groups with an electron-withdrawing dicyanobenzene core. Steric hindrance twists the carbazolyl units out of the dicyanobenzene plane, giving a small singlet-triplet gap (ΔE ST) of 0.09 eV. Because it carries fewer carbazolyl groups than 4CzIPN, its donor strength is lower and its emission peak moves to a shorter wavelength, 473 nm in toluene.
Beyond acting as a blue emitter, 2CzPN has been reported as a host or exciton harvester in orange phosphorescent, red quantum-dot, green exciplex and hybrid white devices, with a maximum EQE of 38.4% reported for a white OLED structure.
- Sky blue emitting layer material in TADF OLEDs.
- Host material for phosphorescent emitters such as (tbt)2Ir(acac) in orange OLEDs.
- Exciton harvester in the PVK host layer of red quantum-dot light-emitting diodes.
- Component of exciplex emitting layers in green OLEDs.
- Blue TADF component in hybrid white OLEDs.
