2PTZBN, also known as PTZ-BN or BN3 (CAS 2250280-17-0), is a green-emitting dopant for OLEDs based on multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF). It is supplied as a sublimed orange powder or crystals with purity above 99% by HPLC, making it suited to vacuum-deposited emissive layers.
The molecule is built on a DABNA-1 type triarylboron core in which two sulfur atoms, placed opposite the nitrogen atoms, link the outer phenyl rings into a highly rigid framework. Incorporating these heavier atoms into the B-N multi-resonance system raises spin-orbit coupling and narrows the singlet-triplet gap (ΔEST = 0.15 eV), so reverse intersystem crossing reaches up to 2.8 × 10^5 s^-1 in toluene, faster than the oxygen-based analogue 2PXZBN.
In toluene it absorbs at 471 nm and emits at 510 nm. A reported device using 2PTZBN doped into a DMIC-TRZ host reached a maximum EQE of 34.6%, a turn-on voltage below 2.5 V and luminance above 100,000 cd m-2.
