3tPAB is a deep blue dopant for organic light-emitting diodes, belonging to the multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) class of boron-based triarylamine emitters. It is supplied as a sublimed material with a purity of ≥99.0% (HPLC), appearing as a yellow powder or crystals. It is also known as DABNA-NP-TB, t-DABDPA and t-DAB-DPA (CAS 2056877-25-7).
The molecule carries six bulky tert-butyl groups around its periphery. This steric shielding limits interactions between neighbouring molecules, reducing aggregation-related emission quenching and raising the photoluminescence quantum yield. In a device using mCP as the sole host, 3tPAB reached a maximum EQE of 19.3% with CIE coordinates of (0.141, 0.076) and a FWHM of 26 nm.
Beyond acting as an emitter, 3tPAB can serve as a sensitizer in blue fluorescent and MR-TADF OLEDs. In TADF-sensitized TADF (TST) devices pairing 3tPAB with the MR-TADF emitter PhDMAC-BN, a maximum external quantum efficiency of 33.9% was reported, supported by efficient Förster energy transfer.

- Sensitizer for blue conventional fluorescent OLED devices.
- Sensitizer in TADF-sensitized TADF (TST) devices with MR-TADF emitters such as PhDMAC-BN.
- Component in the emissive layers of all-fluorescence white OLEDs.
