4,4',4'',4'''-(Pyrene-1,3,6,8-tetrayl)tetraaniline, also known as TAPy (CAS 1610471-69-6), is a pyrene-based amine linker used to construct covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and cross-linked COF/MOF networks. Its pyrene core carries four aniline arms at the 1,3,6,8-positions, giving a fluorescent tecton suited to framework chemistry. Purity is >98%, supplied as a green to dark yellow powder or crystals.
Frameworks built from this linker have been studied for photocatalysis, membranes and hydrogen evolution. Condensing it with 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalaldehyde gives PyTTA–DHTA-COF; after sulfonic acid groups were added to its channel walls, proton conductivity reached 10 −3 S cm −1 at 25 °C and 10 −2 S cm −1 at 70 °C, both at 100% RH.
A [4 + 4] condensation with a carbazole derivative produced the luminescent PyTA-BC-Ph-COF, with a BET surface area of 1445 m 2 g −1 and photocatalytic H 2 production of up to 1183 µmol g −1 h −1 without a noble metal cocatalyst. Pairing it with a thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole dialdehyde gave a donor–acceptor COF reaching a hydrogen evolution rate of 2072.4 μmol g −1 h −1.
