4,4',4''-(Pyridine-2,4,6-triyl)tribenzaldehyde, also known as TBAPy, TFPP or TPP-3CHO (CAS 2230887-26-8), is a tritopic aldehyde linker used to build covalent organic frameworks (COFs). Its structure places an electron-deficient pyridine ring at the centre, with a benzaldehyde arm attached at each of the 2, 4 and 6 positions, giving a triangular geometry suited to two-dimensional network formation.
The three aldehyde groups react readily with amines in condensation reactions, forming imine bonds that cross-link the framework. In reported work, condensing this linker with the triangular amine node Car-3NH2 produced Car-TPP-COF, a material with a surface area of 721 m2 g−1 and CO2 uptake of 34 mg g−1 at 298 K.
Ossila supplies the compound at >98% purity as a white to grey powder, fibres or crystals, for research into porous organic materials for gas capture and energy storage.
