4,4'-(Benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)dibenzaldehyde, also known as BTDBA (CAS 914651-17-5), is an aldehyde bridging linker used to build covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and covalent polymeric frameworks. Its molecule carries two 4-formylphenyl groups attached to a benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole (BT) core, giving a reactive dialdehyde suited to cross-linked COF networks. It is supplied at >98% purity as a yellow powder to fibers/crystals.
In published work, BTDBA has been used to make BT-TAPT-COF, an imine-linked benzothiadiazole framework with high crystallinity, excellent chemical stability and strong light absorption, which served as a platform for visible-light driven hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).
As an electron-deficient building block, it has also been used to construct F-CTF-3, a fluorescent ultrathin covalent triazine framework with high stability, porosity and fluorescence. The electron-deficient units lining its pores allow sensing of electron-rich primary aromatic amines, with reported detection limits of 11.7 nM for phenylamine (PA) and 1.47 nM for p-phenylenediamine (PDA).
