Ossila 4-tert-Butylpyridine (TBP, CAS 3978-81-2) is a pyridine derivative supplied at a purity above 98.0% as a light yellow clear liquid. It is a common additive for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) electrolytes and for hole transport layer (HTL) materials in polymer photovoltaics and perovskite solar cells.
In hole transport materials, TBP is added to suppress charge recombination and improve HTM properties, supporting high-efficiency perovskite devices. Published work reports that TBP can improve perovskite crystallinity, raising the PCE of CH3NH3PbI3-based planar cells from 6.71% to 10.62%. In CH3NH3PbI3/P3HT mesoscopic cells, combining Li-TFSI and TBP in the P3HT layer lifted efficiency from 5.7% to 13.7%.
The compound has a molecular weight of 135.21 g/mol, HOMO 5.9 eV and LUMO 2.4 eV, and pairs well with LiTFSI and Spiro-MeOTAD in perovskite research. It is available in 25 g, 50 g and 100 g packs.
