46DCzPPm, also sold as CzPhPy or 9Cz46Pm (4,6-Bis(3-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)pyrimidine, CAS 1262678-77-2), is a carbazole-based organic semiconductor supplied by Ossila as a white powder with sublimed purity above 99.0%. It serves mainly as a bipolar host for red, green and blue phosphorescent OLEDs.
The molecule pairs two electron-rich carbazole end groups with an electron-deficient biphenylpyrimidine core, giving it one more nitrogen than the related 26DCzPPy. This bipolar design supports transport of both charge types. Reported work used it as host for the blue triplet emitter FIrPic, reaching a driving voltage as low as 3.9 V, with Cs2CO3-doped 46DCzPPm as an n-doped electron-transport layer and MoO3-doped 46DCzPPm as a p-doped hole-transport layer.
Its deep HOMO level of 6.19 eV also makes it effective as a hole blocking layer. In blue devices with a 10 nm 46DCzPPm layer, maximum external quantum efficiencies of 27.5% and 25.2% have been reported.
- Bipolar host material for blue, red and green phosphorescent OLEDs.
- Host for the blue triplet emitter FIrPic in low-driving-voltage devices.
- Hole blocking layer in OLED stacks, enabled by its deep HOMO level.
- Doped electron-transport (Cs2CO3) and hole-transport (MoO3) layers in homojunction OLEDs.
- Research in organic electronics and sublimed OLED materials.
