4CzIPN (1,2,3,5-Tetrakis(carbazol-9-yl)-4,6-dicyanobenzene, CAS 1416881-52-1) is a donor–acceptor fluorophore and a metal-free organophotocatalyst. Its benzene core is fully substituted, carrying four electron-donating carbazolyl groups and two electron-accepting cyano groups placed meta to each other. Product code M2100A1 is the sublimed grade, with purity above 99.0% by HPLC, supplied as an orange-yellow powder or crystals.
Among its three isomers, 4CzIPN shows the highest photoluminescence quantum yield, above 90%, which is attributed to the HOMO being widely spread over the donor units. A relatively short delayed-emission excited-state lifetime has been reported, and TADF-OLEDs using it as the emitter have shown higher external quantum efficiency. Reported green devices reach a maximum EQE of 29.6%.
Although poorly soluble in most aromatic solvents, it can be solution-processed from dichloromethane or chloroform, thanks to steric distortion of the carbazole units.

- Metal-free organophotocatalyst for photocatalytic transformations.
- Solution-processed emissive layers deposited from dichloromethane or chloroform.
