4CzIPN-Me (2,4,5,6-Tetra(3,6-dimethylcarbazol-9-yl)-1,3-dicyanobenzene, CAS 1469703-61-4) is a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) material that emits in the yellow region. It can serve as the sole emitter in high-efficiency TADF-OLEDs or as an assistant dopant in TADF-assisted fluorescence (TAF) OLEDs, where a fluorescent end emitter sits alongside it in a host matrix.
Structurally, it is 4CzIPN carrying methyl groups at the 3,6-positions of each of its four carbazolyl units. These substituents improve both the stability and the solubility of the carbazolyl benzonitrile. It is an isomer of 4CzPN-Me and 4CzTPN-Me.
With a reverse intersystem crossing rate (k RISC) of around 10 6, 4CzIPN-Me converts triplets to singlets quickly, which suppresses exciton annihilation and has been shown to raise both electroluminescence efficiency and operational lifetime in TAF-OLEDs. In electrogenerated chemiluminescence studies, its ECL intensity falls over repeated voltage cycles because polymerization occurs on the carbazolyl groups. The material is supplied unsublimed at >98.0% purity (1H NMR) as an orange powder or crystals.
- Solo yellow emitter in high-efficiency TADF-OLED devices.
- Assistant dopant paired with a fluorescent end emitter such as TBRb in TAF (hyperfluorescent) OLEDs.
- Research into triplet-singlet upconversion and suppression of exciton annihilation in OLEDs.
- Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) studies of donor-acceptor TADF molecules.
