4CzPN-Me, or 3,4,5,6-tetrakis(3,6-dimethylcarbazol-9-yl)-1,2-dicyanobenzene, is a green-emitting thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) material from Ossila. It belongs to the carbazolyl benzonitrile (CBC) family, a group of compounds recognised for highly efficient TADF behaviour, and is classed as a green dopant material.
Structurally, it is the 4CzPN molecule with methyl groups added at the 3,6-positions of all four carbazole units, which sit either adjacent to or opposite the cyano groups. These alkyl substituents add steric bulk that improves solubility relative to 4CzPN, while also raising the electron density of the carbazole units surrounding the central benzene ring.
The greater electron density and conjugation shift the photoluminescence of 4CzPN-Me to longer wavelengths than 4CzPN, with emission at 552 nm in toluene. The material is supplied as an orange powder or crystals with unsublimed purity above 98.0% by 1H NMR, in 250 mg, 500 mg and 1 g packs.
