4CzPN-Ph (4CzPNPh), also known as 3,4,5,6-tetrakis(3,6-diphenylcarbazol-9-yl)-1,2-dicyanobenzene, is a rigid carbazole-based phthalonitrile compound that serves as a yellow thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter. It is typically doped into a host layer to build efficient yellow and white TADF-OLEDs.
The molecule is built on a benzene core carrying two cyano groups in the ortho 1,2-positions and four bulky 3,6-diphenyl-9H-carbazole units. It shares its basic structure with 4CzTPN-Ph, but in 4CzPN-Ph the four diphenylcarbazolyl groups sit side by side, making it more sterically crowded. As a result it is less conjugated and emits at shorter wavelengths than 4CzTPN-Ph, which is red-shifted.
In an all-TADF white OLED using SFXSPO as host with DMAC-DPS (blue) and 4CzPN-Ph (yellow) as dopants, reported maximum values reached 40.6 lm/W power efficiency, 19.1% EQE and 50.5 cd/A current efficiency. The material is supplied unsublimed as an orange powder with purity above 98.0%.
- Yellow TADF dopant in the emissive layer of high-efficiency yellow OLEDs.
- Yellow component in all-TADF white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) combined with blue emitters such as DMAC-DPS.
- Guest emitter in host materials such as SFXSPO, 5CzOXD or 3-Spiro for device research.
- Research into carbazole-based TADF materials and organic electronics.
