4CzTPN, or 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(carbazol-9-yl)-1,4-dicyanobenzene (CAS 1416881-53-2), is a carbazole-based emitter used as a green dopant in thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) devices. It belongs to the same isomer family as 4CzPN and 4CzIPN.
Compared with its isomer 4CzIPN, 4CzTPN shows a lower photoluminescence quantum efficiency and a shorter triplet lifetime, because 4CzIPN spreads its HOMO more widely across the donor carbazolyl groups. In toluene, 4CzTPN absorbs at 328, 344 and 485 nm and emits at 538 nm, with HOMO at 5.73 eV, LUMO at 2.82 eV and T1 at 2.15 eV.
The material is supplied as an orange powder or crystals, purified by sublimation to >99.0% (HPLC). In a reported green device using an SFXSPO host doped with 5 wt.% 4CzTPN, a maximum current efficiency of 62.9 cd/A, maximum EQE of 19.6% and maximum power efficiency of 54.9 lm/W were achieved.
