5-(4-(Diphenylamino)phenyl)thiophene-2-carbaldehyde, also known as DPAPTA (CAS 291279-14-6), is a triphenylamine-based aldehyde building block used as a ligand linker for covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and as a precursor for aggregation induced emission (AIE) materials. One phenyl ring of its triphenylamine core carries a 2-carbaldehydethiophene unit.
The formyl group reacts readily with amines in condensation reactions, creating double-bond π-bridges, and it can also serve to end-cap COF networks. Supplied at >98% purity as a yellow to orange powder or crystals.
Compounds derived from DPAPTA have been reported in the literature as AIE two-photon fluorescent probes for brain vasculature imaging, mitochondria-targeting photosensitizers that generate reactive oxygen species under visible light, colorimetric and fluorescent probes for cyanide ions, and water-soluble near-infrared AIEgens for wash-free cell membrane staining.
