5'-(4-Formylphenyl)-2',4',6'-trimethyl-[1,1':3',1''-terphenyl]-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde, also known as TMTFPB or TTFB (CAS 2195343-70-3), is a triangular aldehyde-functionalized linker used to build covalent organic frameworks (COFs). Its central benzene ring carries three methyl groups alternating with three formylphenyl groups, giving three reactive aldehyde sites for constructing cross-linked imine and related networks.

Reported frameworks show what this building block can do. Combined with 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)ethene, it forms COF-790, an imine framework with fjh topology, permanent porosity and a BET surface area of 2650 m2 g–1. Paired with 2,4,6-tristyryl s-triazine, it yields F-COF-2, whose rigidified skeleton gives strong fluorescence emission and sensitive, selective detection of the antibiotic nitrofurantoin, with a KSV of 9.12 × 10^5 M–1 and a detection limit of 3.35 ppb.
