These stainless steel shims are made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head, where they determine how wide the coated film will be. They are sold in packs of 5, each shim cut to a predefined coating width, and come in thicknesses of 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm.
A slot die head needs a shim fitted to set its coating width. Beyond that role, shims can also act as spacers that hold the head sections apart, altering the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be reached. They suit coating fluids with viscosities from 0 – 1000 cPs.
Where a standard width does not fit the job, custom shim options are also offered, including designs for coating multiple strips at once. Shims pair well with other slot die accessories, such as meniscus guides, which help to sharpen the definition of the deposited film's width.
- Setting the coating width of films deposited with the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head.
- Spacing the sections of a slot die head to change internal pressure for higher flow rates.
- Multi strip slot die coating using custom shim designs.
- Slot die deposition of fluids with viscosities in the 0 – 1000 cPs range.
