These Ossila shims are stainless steel inserts made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. Placed inside the head, a shim sets the width of the coated stripe, letting you control both the area and the volume of material deposited.
Shims supplied in packs of 5 come with predefined coating widths and are offered in thicknesses of 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm, suited to fluids from 0 – 1000 cPs. Beyond setting width, a shim can also act as a spacer between the sections of the head, altering the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be achieved.
Custom shim options are also available for more specific needs, including designs that produce multi-strip coatings. The shims work alongside other slot die accessories such as meniscus guides, which help define the width of the deposited film more precisely.
