These Ossila shims are stainless steel inserts made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. Placed inside the head, a shim sets the width of the coated stripe, so the same coater can deposit films of different widths and volumes.
Shims also act as spacers between the sections of the slot die head. Changing this separation alters the pressure inside the head, which allows higher flow rates when needed. The shims suit inks with viscosities from 0 to 1000 cPs.
They are supplied in packs of 5 with predefined coating widths and are offered in 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm thicknesses. Custom shim designs are also available for more specific needs, including layouts for multi-strip coating.
- Setting the coating width of films deposited with the Ossila 50 mm slot die head.
- Adjusting deposited coating volume by selecting different shim widths.
- Spacing slot die head sections to change internal pressure for higher flow rates.
- Producing multi-strip coatings using custom shim designs.
