These Ossila shims fit the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head and are used to set the width of the coated stripe in slot die coating. Each pack contains 5 stainless steel shims with a predefined coating width.
In a slot die head, the shim determines how wide the deposited film will be. Shims can also act as spacers between the sections of the head, changing the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be achieved. They suit coating fluids in the 0 – 1000 cPs viscosity range and come in thicknesses of 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm.
Custom shim options are also available for more specific needs, including designs that allow multi strip coatings. The shims work alongside other slot die accessories such as meniscus guides, which help define the coating width of the film more precisely.
