These stainless steel shims fit the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head and set the width of the film it deposits. A slot die head relies on a shim to fix its coating width, so swapping shims lets you change the stripe width and the volume of material delivered without changing the head itself.
Shims are supplied five to a pack with fixed coating widths, in thicknesses of 0.1 mm or 0.05 mm, and suit inks across a viscosity range of 0 – 1000 cPs. Available width and thickness combinations run from 5 mm up to 15 mm. Where a predefined width does not fit the job, custom shim designs are also offered, including layouts for multi-strip coating.
Beyond defining width, a shim can also serve as a spacer between the sections of the slot die head, altering the internal pressure so the head can handle higher flow rates. They pair with other slot die accessories such as meniscus guides, which further sharpen the edges of the deposited film.
