These Ossila shims are stainless steel inserts made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. Placed inside the head, a shim sets the width of the coated stripe, so the same head can deposit films of different widths and volumes.
Shims are supplied in packs of 5, each with a predefined coating width, and come in 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm thicknesses. Available width and thickness combinations range from 5 mm up to 15 mm. They are suited to inks across a viscosity range of 0 – 1000 cPs.
Beyond defining width, a shim can serve as a spacer between the sections of the slot die head, changing the internal pressure to allow higher flow rates. Custom shim designs are also possible for multi-strip coatings.
