These stainless steel shims fit the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head and set the width of the coated stripe. This variant, L3005S1-7.5, gives a 7.5 mm coating width with a shim thickness of 0.1 mm, and each pack contains 5 shims.
A slot die head cannot define its coating width without a shim, so choosing the shim is how the width and volume of the deposited film are set. Shims can also act as spacers between the sections of the head, altering the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be reached.
The shims suit coating fluids with viscosities from 0 to 1000 cPs. Alongside predefined widths, custom shims are available for multi-strip coating, and they can be combined with slot die heads and meniscus guides to further refine the coating width of the film.
